Appalachian Hike
Since the monotony of my normal running schedule was boring me out of my sneakers, I decided hiking would burn my calories for today. Luckily there's a branch of the Appalachian trail not too far from my house. Climb the path for about an hour and you'll find this beautiful view called Pinwheel's Vista.
At first, I started out my walk with my iPod headphones in, but something told me to take them out, and out they went. It was soothing to hear only tree leaves blowing and my shoes hitting the rocks as I climbed.
One thing you shouldn't do is get lost on the mountain, which is exactly what I did. This area is already what is considered one of the most difficult of the Appalachian Trail (this bad boy extends from the state of Georgia all the way to Maine). But what I ended up climbing was basically the side of a mountain and was definitely not safe. Another thing- that's also why you don't hike alone. I managed to find my way back just because I've traveled this piece of the trail so many times, but if you don't visit a trail often, don't go alone.

When I finally made it to Pinwheel's Vista, it was, as usual, well worth the effort.
All you can hear is the wind. And all you smell is nature. No fumes, no pollution, no noise, no people. Yet surprisingly good cell phone service!
In all seriousness, there's a certain satisfaction you receive from occasional solitude, especially when you work for it.
Find your sanctuary.

Love,
